Fannie May Chocolate: Orders Due Nov. 13

Please return your Fannie May orders no later than Sunday, November 13. Place them in the provided basket on the table in the gathering space, or give them to Pat Kalicki. The orders will be processed and all of the orders you sold will be delivered directly to your home the week of December 5 (you do not need to be home).

Remember: Saint Nicholas receives a percentage of every order sold, and our friends and family get a 10% discount on candy (and no tax)!

This sounds a little like our Second Family program, I will make sure some of our leaders see this. We normally do something like this working with Clearmont School, but we have parishioners in Hoffman Estates (and a history, since some of us came from Holy Innocents).

In any case, it’s a worthy cause and deserves support.

After hearing homelessness among District 211 students is on the rise, a group of real estate agents decided to form a group to help the cause.
Cindy Eich, a Rolling Meadows Realtor and member of the District 211 Foundation, helped form the new group, Realtors Against Homelessness, after hearing the number of affected students is increasing throughout the district, which includes Conant, Fremd, Hoffman Estates, Palatine and Schaumburg high schools.
“We came together and would like to see what we can do to impact the lives of homeless students,” she said.

Food Pantry Now Open 1st, 3rd, 4th Wedesday Evenings

The St Nicholas Food Pantry is now open the first, third, and fourth Wednesday of the month from 430pm to 630pm. We’re grateful for the assistance we get with food donations from other area repositories, and also from area food service companies. We’re also thankful for the gift of time and care from our group of volunteers, who sort cans and greet guests.

Demand for food across the Chicago suburbs is on the rise, placing more of a burden on local and regional food providers trying to do more with less.

Many food banks and pantries dependent on donations to stock shelves and buy groceries are barely getting by, while others are expanding to reach more hungry mouths.
