Bishop’s Committee: It’s Air Conditioning Season!

The Bishop’s Committee met Sunday, June 10 and discussed the following:

  • Preparations for Fr. Manny’s installation on Wednesday, June 13, particularly pertaining to the logistics of name tags, ushering, parking, information to distribute, etc.
  • It was determined that Jessica will coordinate the Parish Picnic and she will be asking for volunteers. (The picnic will be Saturday, July 14 at noon)
  • Bob DeHaven will be checking with the Village of Elk Grove to determine if there is a possibility of involvement by St. Nicholas in upcoming village events.
  • Involvement in Little Boots Rodeo will be delayed until next summer.
  • A committee will be formed to discern where the stained-glass windows from St. Bede’s will be placed.
  • Bob Kalicki will place the order for the t-shirts and will order extras for those who have not yet given their size to order.
  • The financials were accepted
  • We will be moving our services to Holy Innocents Hall June 16/17 to take advantage of the air conditioning in the Hall.

Bishop’s Committee, Anyone?

Would you like to serve on the Bishop’s Committee?  If so, please notify Fr. Manny, Pat Kalicki, or Steve Raftery.  We meet the second Sunday of each month at 8:15 am to 9:45 am, and are looking to add new members.  If you aren’t interested, maybe you know someone who is and would like to nominate them.  We won’t put anyone up for election without first getting their permission.

Food Pantry News: A Success Story, and a Shopping List

A story from Bob Kalicki, who does A LOT of great work with the food pantry:

20120211-095432.jpg

The food pantry has been serving an average of 20 families each Wednesday we are open, which is the first, third and fourth Wednesday of the month.

I need to share a story of how this ministry affects people. A young lady came to the food pantry several weeks ago, gave me a hug and thanked Saint Nicholas for helping her family while she was out of work. She had just obtained a job and wanted us to know how much Saint Nicholas helped her. I accepted her thanks on behalf of Saint Nicholas and the staff that works the food pantry. Her joy and the tears I see in people’s eyes when they leave Saint Nicholas with their groceries is difficult to put into words.

Since the food pantry is so busy, we find ourselves running out of cereal, canned corn and canned fish. Please help us by donating these items.
