Free The Prisoner

One of our icons has pride of place during Black History Month; that of Dr Martin Luther King. He is depicted holding a placard with a prisoner number on it, a visual reference to his stay in the Birmingham jail.

The anthem sung by the choir last week was carefully chosen; the line “free the prisoner” was repeated, along with lines calling for peace, justice, and equality.

We are all prisoners, in a way. We must strive to free each other and ourselves from the chains that bind us.

A reminder from Jessica Tamaski, who is doing a fantastic job heading up this year’s Chili Supper:

Saturday, February 18, immediately following the 4:30PM liturgy. If you won’t be in church to sign up so that we can plan how much chili to make, please contact Jessica Tamaski (see directory, or call the church) and let her know how many people will be in your party.
